FirstEnergy Ohio Utilities To Conduct Competitive Auction To Procure Electric Generation Supply

announced that a competitive bidding process will be conducted by its Ohio utilities – Ohio Edison, Cleveland Electric Illuminating and Toledo Edison – to procure full-requirements electric generation service for their Standard Service Offer customers for the delivery period June 2015 through May 2016. The competitively-bid auction will be held January 27, 2015, and will be the last in a series of six auctions that began in October 2012 as part of the FirstEnergy Ohio Utilities' approved Electric Security Plan 3 (ESP3) covering the delivery period. The auction will utilize a descending-price clock auction format to procure the last 16 of 100 tranches of customer load. Prospective bidders can submit their Part 1 Application between November 13 and December 4, 2014. For successful Part 1 applicants, the submission window for the Part 2 Application process will be December 17, 2014, through January 8, 2015. The auction will be managed by independent auction manager CRA International, Inc., a provider of management, economic, and financial consulting services.
