MCD shares dipped today following the 10-Q disclosure showing OSI probe could result in 'significant negative impact.' The company stated it sees global comps forecast 'at risk' , putting additional pressure on what had been MCD fastest growing markets.
The OSI probe focused on food safety concerns. In mid-July, food quality and safety issues were discovered at a supplier to certain food companies in China, including McDonald's. As a consequence, McDonald's businesses in China, Japan and certain other markets are experiencing a significant negative impact to results. The affected markets represent approximately 10% of consolidated revenues.
Shares of MCD, which were trading higher, have now pulled back and are down 52 cents at 93.78.
