The Dow dropped 0.03% to 16,847.22, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.07% to 1,962.29 and the NASDAQ composite index surged 0.19% to 4,406.10.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

Photographic Equipment & Supplies: This industry tumbled 2.57% by 10:50 am. The worst stock within the industry was Ballantyne Strong (NYSE: BTN), which fell 3.4%. Ballantyne Strong's 52-week trading range is $3.76-$5.15.

Silver: This industry fell 1.27% by 10:50 am ET. Great Panther Silver (NYSE: GPL) shares dropped 4.9% in today's trading. Silver futures dropped 1.13% to trade at $20.90 an ounce.

Foreign Utilities: The industry dropped 0.88% by 10:50 am. The worst performer in this industry was CPFL Energia SA (NYSE: CPL), which declined 1.4%. CPFL Energia's trailing-twelve-month profit margin is 4.77%.

Office Supplies: This industry moved down 0.77% by 10:50 am, with ACCO Brands (NYSE: ACCO) moving down 0.8%. Acco Brands shares have dropped 2.91% over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 21.42% in the same period.
