US Stock Futures Edge Lower Ahead Of Consumer Spending Report

US stock futures traded slightly lower in early pre-market trade. Data on consumer spending for April will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, while the Chicago PMI for May will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET. The Reuter's/University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index for May will be released at 9:55 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 7 points to 16,674.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures fell 1.70 points to 1,916.20. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index declined 1.25 points to 3,734.25.
A Peek Into Global Markets
European markets were mostly lower today, with the Spanish Ibex Index gaining 0.32%, STOXX Europe 600 Index dropping 0.10%. German DAX 30 index fell 0.05%, French CAC 40 Index slipped 0.60% and London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.20%. Spanish consumer price index increased 0.2% in May, while German retail sales dropped 0.9% in April. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropped 0.34%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.31%, China's Shanghai Composite Index declined 0.07% and India's BSE Sensex tumbled 0.07%. Japan's consumer price index climbed 3.2% in April.
