MetLife
, which has been administering oral health benefits for U.S. workers
and their families for more than 51 years, today announced that it has been
selected as an official plan for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
Dental Insurance Program (VADIP). Enrollment for the program began November
15, 2013, and coverage begins January 1, 2014.
The VADIP is a new three-year national pilot program sponsored by the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs. The program provides over 8.6 million eligible
Veterans the opportunity to purchase voluntary dental insurance for themselves
and their family members. Participation in the program is open to Veterans
enrolled in the VA health care program and eligible family members who are
beneficiaries of the VA's Civilian Health and Medical Program (CHAMPVA).
“We are proud that the VA chose MetLife to participate in the VADIP. This
award expands our existing relationship with both the uniformed and
non-uniformed population who receive benefits through the Federal Government,
and reaffirms our commitment to provide high-quality, competitively priced
benefit solutions to this unique market segment,” says Pete Schwarz, Vice
President of U.S. Government Business at MetLife.
MetLife will offer two options, Standard and High, through the program.
Enrollment in the program will be evergreen and not limited to a specific
enrollment period. After November 15, 2013, beneficiaries can enroll in either
plan as they become eligible.
The program will feature MetLife's PDP Plus network. One of the country's
largest networks, PDP Plus provides access to more than 256,000 participating
dental offices. VADIP beneficiaries have the freedom to go to any licensed
dentist and receive benefits for covered services, however their
out-of-pockets costs will usually be lower when they receive in-network care
due to significant network discounts on dental charges.
“MetLife's VADIP coverage options provide benefits and savings designed to
encourage beneficiaries to take charge of their oral health and get the care
they and their families need,” says Christen White, Vice President, Group
Dental and Vision at MetLife. “In addition to savings through negotiated fees,
MetLife also supports plan participants through high-quality standards for our
network and a claims process that helps protect participants against
inappropriate costs and care.”
The program is available in all states, as well as the District of Columbia,
Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the
Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
MetLife, the largest administrator of dental benefit plans among all single
commercial carriers, provides dental plan administration for more than 21
million people. For more information about MetLife's VADIP, please visit
