Since VGChartz only publishes the top 40 pre-ordered games, there could be other games that consumers have committed to purchasing. But this list should still serve as an indicator for what the first-week sales will be when PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are released in November. PlayStation 4
console
pre-orders have already been sold to more than
one million people
worldwide. Microsoft has yet to announce the pre-sale figures for Xbox One.
PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 Remain Popular
Sony and Microsoft's new consoles may be just around the corner, but that hasn't stopped consumers from pre-ordering millions of games for the seven-year-old PlayStation 3 and the eight-year-old Xbox 360. In fact, Xbox 360 is currently the dominant platform for
Call of Duty: Ghosts
with 495,034 pre-orders. Nine Xbox 360 games made it into the top 40, amounting to 1,362,088 pre-orders. PlayStation 3 dominated the list with 11 games in the top 40 -- the most of any console.
