Buckeye Technologies BKI and Georgia-Pacific LLC announced Wednesday that they have agreed that Georgia-Pacific will acquire Buckeye Technologies' common stock for $37.50 per share in cash. The transaction is valued at approximately $1.5 billion, including debt. Buckeye Technologies closed at $37.85 Wednesday, a gain of 26% on 60 times average volume. Hearing Chatter of Private Equity Interest in Cheniere Energy The Rumor:
Shares of Cheniere Energy LNG surged higher Wednesday on unconfirmed chatter of private equity interest. An offer of $35 per share is being mentioned by sources. A spokesperson for Cheniere Energy was not available for comment. Cheniere Energy closed at $27.88 Wednesday, a gain of 1.5% on average volume. MetroPCS Shareholders Approve Merger with T-Mobile USA The Deal:
MetroPCS Communications PCS announced Wednesday that shareholders overwhelmingly voted to approve all of the proposals required for closing the proposed combination with Deutsche Telekom DTEGY T-Mobile USA unit. The merger is expected to be completed after the close of business on April 30, 2013. MetroPCS Communications closed at $11.77 Wednesday, again of $0.08 on 2.5 times average volume. Fusion-io Acquires NexGen Storage for $114M in Cash, $5M in Stock The Deal:
Fusion-io FIO announced Wednesday that it has acquired NexGen Storage, a leading developer of hybrid storage appliances based on Fusion ioMemory for small to medium enterprises. Fusion-io paid approximately $114 million in cash and approximately $5 million in stock for all of the outstanding stock, warrants and vested equity awards of NexGen. Fusion-io closed at $16.63 Wednesday and traded over $19.00 after-hours.
