Harris Corporation Receives $12M in Orders from Nations in Africa for Falcon Tactical Radios

, an international communications and information technology company, has received orders totaling about $12 million to supply Falcon^® tactical radio systems and field support to two countries in Africa. The radios will be used to provide line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight tactical voice and data communications to armed forces personnel. The order was received in the first quarter of Harris' 2013 fiscal year. Harris is providing these nations with Falcon III^® RF-7800V VHF and Falcon II^® RF-5800H HF tactical radio systems, along with training, installation and field support services. The orders include base stations, vehicular systems and manpack and handheld radios. “The Falcon radios will provide security forces in these countries with combat proven, high-performance tactical voice and data communications,'' said Brendan O'Connell, president, international business, Harris RF Communications. “These capabilities are vital on a range of missions. This order further solidifies the Falcon family as the international standard for tactical communications.'' The RF-7800V family covers the 30 MHz to 108 MHz frequency range and supports data rates up to 192 Kbps, making it the fastest combat net radio available today. The RF-7800V also provides time-critical BMS reports, while delivering simultaneous networked voice and data communications to multiple users.
