US Stock Futures Flat Ahead Of Economic Data

US stock futures are mostly flat this morning, as investors are awaiting housing data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1 point to 13,488.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 0.40 points to 1,451.00. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 1.50 points to 2,839.75. US stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.15% to 13,558.92, the S&P 500 index falling 0.22% to 1,456.89 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 0.60% to 3,160.78. The S&P/Case-Shiller home-price index for the month of July will be released at 9 a.m. ET. The Conference Board is scheduled to release the consumer-confidence index for the month of September at 10 a.m. ET. However, the Federal Housing Finance Agency will also release home-price index for July at 10 a.m. ET. Vail Resorts

The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.05%, London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.04%, French CAC 40 Index fell 0.61% and German DAX 30 index declined 0.38%. Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.25%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.19% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 dropping 0.31%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.02% and India's Sensex gained 0.15%. Crude oil for November delivery gained $0.59 to trade at $92.52 a barrel. However, gold for December delivery rose $5.20 to $1,769.70 an ounce. The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.12% to trade at 79.64, up from 79.573 in North American trading late Monday.
