Judge Mostly Agrees with Vringo in Patent Case

U.S. District Court Judge Raymond Jackson mostly affirmed his Markman ruling from June 15 in Vringo's patent lawsuit against Google GOOG, AOL AOL and several other companies. The suit, inherited when Vringo acquired IP firm Innovate/Protect, involves infringement of patents acquired from Lycos. Vringo issued a statement Friday on on the Judge's ruling: "We are pleased that the Court agreed with us that the defendants failed to sufficiently show that the Court's previous conclusion on one of the terms warranted reconsideration. In the Court's reconsideration of the second term, we believe that the Court clarified its interpretation in a manner that is consistent with the proposals submitted by the plaintiff and all defendants in the case." The trial date is set for October 16, 2012. Vringo shares traded as high as $3.51 in the pre-market.
