The company named Anil Amlani, the current President and Chief Executive Officer of SonoSite's VisualSonics subsidiary, as the new Chief Financial Officer of SonoSite, effective as of January 2, 2012.
Shares of Westmoreland Coal Co (NYSE: WLB) gained about 5% after the company announced its plans to buy a Wyoming coal mine from a Chevron Corp (NYSE: CVX) unit for around $74 million in cash. It will also assume roughly $118 million in liabilities. The deal has been approved by Westmoreland's board. The transaction is likely to close by the end of January.
Shares of ICON plc (NASDAQ: ICLR) fell about 0.5% after the company announced the retirement of Non-Executive Director, Dr. Anthony Murphy to become effective on 31st December 2011.
Shares of Daimler AG (OTC: DDAIF) gained about 0.27% after the company's Mercedes-Benz brand expected to raise production by 13% next year. It projects production to surge to more than 1.4 million passenger vehicles, Automotive News Europe reports on its website. Excluding commercial vehicles, and Smart and Maybach vehicles, Mercedes expects to produce 1,417,400 passenger cars globally in 2012, according to the report. Mercedes projects its total passenger car output, including Smart and soon-to-be-phased-out Maybach vehicles, to surge to around 1.52 million next year and around 1.67 million in 2013, according to Automotive News Europe.
