Overseas, European markets ended their trading session higher. Britain's FTSE 100 gained 1.03%, Germany's DAX increased by 0.55% and France's CAC 40 rallied by 1.28% on the session. Asian stocks ended their session mixed. China's Shanghai Index lost 0.19%, Japan's Nikkei 225 declined by 1.27%, and the Hang Seng index broke even.

On the economic calendar, NFIB Small Business Optimism came in at 90.2 versus an estimate of 90, IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism came in at 40.6 versus an estimate of 41. On the commodity front, gold and silver futures traded lower today, with gold trading about 0.8% lower today. Energy futures are mixed, with crude oil up over 1.5% near the $96.98 level and gasoline futures are trading lower by about 0.4%. Natural Gas futures are higher by about 1.7% and copper futures are trading over 0.5% higher.

On the earnings front this afternoon, Caribou Coffee (NASDAQ: CBOU) Reports Q3 EPS $0.07 vs $0.06 Est; Revenues $81.4M vs $78.09M Est; Weight Watchers (NYSE: WTW) Reports Q3 EPS $1.09 vs $0.94 Est; Revenues $428.4M vs $410.96M Est; Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ: ATVI) Reports Q3 EPS $ 0.07 vs $0.02 Est; Revenues $627M vs $558.44M Est; Take-Two (NASDAQ: TTWO) Reports Q2 EPS $(0.47) vs $(0.57) Est; Revenues $107M vs $82.76M Est.

In corporate news, Salix Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: SLXP) announced that it will acquire Oceana Therapeutics for $300 million. The transaction will be in all cash.

Blue Nile (NASDAQ: NILE) announced that it has changed its CEO to Vijay Talwar. During the interim, the current Chairman will be taking control of the company.

Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) announced that its Carotid WALLSTENT product is safe. The study conducted was with high surgical risk patients.

Targacept (NASDAQ: TRGT) -60.2% after one of its medications missed target sales goals.

QuinStreet (NASDAQ: QNST) -18.2% after missing Q1 earnings estimates.

WMS Industries (NYSE: WMS) -17.04% after reporting poor earnings estimates and poor guidance.

Solazyme (NASDAQ: SZYM) +17.18% due to a significant spike in oil prices.

DealerTrack Holdings (NASDAQ: TRAK) +13.86% after positive earnings and various upgrades by equity research analysts.

YPF (NYSE: YPF) +13.59% after a series of upgrades and guiding future earnings positively.
