Lean Hog Futures Higher

April lean hogs are trading at 70.37, up 0.55 cents/lb. June lean hogs are trading at 78.62, up 0.32 cents/lb Lean hog futures are trading steady to higher just after the open. Market chatter about the supply of hogs ahead, weather and trade policy is making the rounds. Thursday's USDA hog slaughter was 408,000 head versus 438,000 head a year ago. The total for the week is now 1,720,000 head versus 1,727,000 head a year ago. Lean Hog futures are closed Monday.
