U.S. Dollar Index Trading Higher, CPI Edges Up

The March U.S. Dollar Index is trading at 100.82, up 0.50. The U.S. Dollar Index is trading choppy and a little under the session highs. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that year over year Core CPI (consumer price index) for December edged up to a rise of 2.2 percent versus a rise of 2.1 percent in November. Year over year CPI rose to 2.1 percent versus a rise of 1.7 percent in November. On the month U.S. CPI edged up 0.3 percent in December versus a rise of 0.2 percent in November. On the month December core CPI showed a rise of 0.2 percent versus a rise of 0.2 percent in November.
