Lean Hog Futures Little Higher

October lean hogs are trading at 50.95, up 0.27 cents /lb. December lean hogs are trading at 42.87, up 0.27 cents/lb. February lean hogs are trading at 49.62, up 0.32 cents/lb. Lean hog futures are trading steady to higher just after the open. Chatter about consumer demand and cash prices is making the rounds. Friday's USDA estimated hog slaughter was 435,000 head and Saturday's was 236,000 head. The total for the week was 2.427 million head versus 2.436 million the previous week and up 5.8 percent from a year ago.
