April Gold futures are trading higher by $34 at $1263.80 in Thursday's session. Much the gain took place in the after-hour session following the Fed's decision to leave rates unchanged.
The contract soared into the $1960 handle, peaking at $1264.80 be end of the session. Just before 7:00 AM the contract rallied to $1271.90 before falling back into the mid $1960 handle.
The current high is just shy of the recent high for the current move that was made on March 10 at $1272.80.
