GBP/USD Higher after U.K. Election results

GBP/USD is trading at 1.5439. The British Pound spiked higher after the exit polls were released on Thursday evening. The pair is trading about 0.0180 higher from 3:00 PM ET. Overnight trading has been firm and a little choppy. Chatter about U.S. economic data today is making the rounds. Next week's the Bank of England monetary policy meeting, rate decision and levels of quantitative easing are due. Chatter about next week U.K data is also just beginning. On Tuesday morning U.K. Industrial production data is due out. The National Institute of Economic Research and Social Research (NIESR) estimates for U.K GDP are also due Tuesday. U.K. Unemployment data is due out on Wednesday. The Bank of England Inflation report is also due out Wednesday along with comments from BOE Governor Carney.
