Aftermath Islands Metaverse, a subsidiary of Liquid Avatar Technologies, announced Wednesday that it will deploy blockchain-based verifiable credentials to provide proof of humanity assurances.

What Happened: The credentials allow users to establish a digital signature that proves they are genuine individuals without having to use logins, passwords or sensitive government-issued identity or proof of address.

This technology has the potential to play a far greater role in the future metaverse ecosystem by facilitating interoperability, reducing fraud and cyberbullying, and perhaps enabling more effective and efficient corporate interactions for marketing and engagement.

Why It's Important: The proof of humanity creates assurances that people in a digital environment are real and there is one user per account, said David Lucatch, managing director of Aftermath Islands.

"Usernames and passwords can become obsolete as your biometric is your password. The days of free-flowing private information and data can be eliminated as the user is in control and chooses to provide information based on a value proposition," he said.

The Last Word: Aftermath Islands will employ the Liquid Avatar Mobile App to generate extra credentials for exclusive access to events requiring KYC (Know Your Customer) and new and growing possibilities in online education, business, gaming, and other activities requiring evidence of humanity and identity.
