A leading restaurant company is celebrating National Avocado Day with a new cryptocurrency themed promotion and game that will give away over $200,000 in prizes.
What Happened: A new promotion from Chipotle Mexican Grill CMG is giving fans the opportunity to win free crypto and get offers for 1-cent guacamole and 1-cent queso blanco.
The company announced the launching of a new interactive game called “Buy The Dip,” which coincides with a popular cryptocurrency phrase.
“We want to build the next generation of Chipotle fandom by connecting with the Web3 community,” Chipotle Chief Marketing Officer Chris Brandt said. “We’re excited to bring positivity to the crypto conversation by empowering fans to ‘Buy The Dip.’”
The game and contests run from July 25 through July 31, which is National Avocado Day. The game runs from 10 a.m. PT to 6 p.m. PT each day at the following website.
Players login to the game with their Chipotle Rewards account or are asked to create a Rewards account.
After clicking the “Buy The Dip” button, contestants have a chance to win a prize. If a prize is won, the player has 15 seconds to “claim” it, or they can “swap” it for a different prize. Players can click “try again” for another chance at a prize. Players get three chances to win each day during the promotion.
Here is a list of the prizes available in the “Buy The Dip” game daily from July 25 through July 30:
- $10,000 in Bitcoin BTC/USD: five fans get $2,000 each per day
- $5,000 in Ethereum ETH/USD: five fans get $1,000 each per day
- $1,250 in Solana SOL/USD: five fans get $250 each per day
- $3,000 in Avalanche AVAX/USD: 20 fans get $150 each per day
- $3,000 in Dogecoin DOGE/USD: 20 fans get $150 each per day
On July 31 to celebrate National Avocado Day, the prizes will increase to the following:
- $35,000 in Bitcoin: five fans get $5,000 each, one fan gets $10,000
- $5,000 in Ethereum: five fans get $1,000 each
- $12,500 in Solana: 25 fans get $500 each
- $11,250 in Avalanche: 75 fans get $150 each
- $11,250 in Dogecoin: 75 fans get $150 each.
Over 500 players of the game will win cryptocurrency prizes during the length of the contest.
All Chipotle Rewards members will get 1-cent guac on National Avocado Day with the digital-only promo code “AVO2022.”

Why It’s Important: Through a partnership with Flexa, Chipotle accepts payment with cryptocurrency at all its U.S. locations. Flexa allows payment with 98 different cryptocurrencies.
Chipotle previously launched a cryptocurrency themed promotion in April 2021 with its “Burritos or Bitcoin” offering that gave away $100,000 in Bitcoin to celebrate National Burrito Day. The promotion marked Chipotle being the first U.S. restaurant brand to do a cryptocurrency giveaway.
Chipotle is one of the leading fast casual restaurant chains in the U.S. with over 3,000 restaurants.
The promotion could be a good way to spotlight the Flexa payments options for cryptocurrency at Chipotle locations and also a good way to get new customers signed up for Chiptole Rewards, with an account needed to play the game.
CMG Price Action: Chipotle shares are down 1% to $1,330.85 on Monday, versus a 52-week range of $1,196.28 to $1,749.07.
