Fortress Investment Group's Briger Likes Europe in Near Future


In an interview from CNBC-organized Delivering Alpha in New York on Wednesday, Peter Briger of Fortress Investment Group (NYSE: FIG) said there are going to be thousands of investing opportunities over the next 4 to 5 years. Briger advised that cash is currently a "great place to be in" because more opportunities are coming, especially in Europe.

Specifically, Briger stated Fortress Investment Group will be interested in financial institutions with presence in Europe and the United States, as one of these opportunities. He said he does not see Europe as a "life or death" situation, and believes Europe is going to be a great place to invest in the future.

Commenting on Fortress Investment Group, Briger said that, "we have done a reasonably good job considering how deep the financial problems are [globally]."

Peter L. Briger, Jr. is a principal and Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fortress Investment Group LLC. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Fortress since November 2006 and was elected Co-Chairman in August 2009. Mr. Briger has been a member of the Management Committee of Fortress since March 2002. Mr. Briger is responsible for the Credit fund business.
