President Obama: Unemployment Rate Will Go Down Because Economy Is Growing

This afternoon, President Obama held a press conference to field questions from the press regarding the new tax cut deal. When asked if he was prepared to say that the unemployment rate would go down as a result of the tax cut, President Obama said that his expectation is that the unemployment rate will go down because the economy is growing. “What I can say with confidence is that this package will help strengthen the economy,” he said.
