Social Media Support Trade Groups Urge Top Court To Reverse Law Curbing Editorial Freedom

  • Trade groups on behalf of Meta Platforms Inc META and Alphabet Inc's GOOG GOOGL Google urged the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a Texas law that would sharply restrict the editorial control of social media companies.
  • NetChoice LLC and the Computer & Communications Industry Association contended the Texas law violated the amendment by forcing social media companies to share harmful speech and subjecting them to spam and bullying, Bloomberg reports.

  • The high court could also review a new Florida law backed by former President Donald Trump, mandating platforms to give a "thorough rationale" for every content-moderation decision.
