Ron DeSantis Criticizes Biden, Harris And Fauci In New Video, 'When The World Lost Its Mind, Florida Was A Refuge Of Sanity': Is 2024 Campaign Coming?

Zinger Key Points
  • The video attempts to highlight the differences between the Democratic administration in the White House and Florida.
  • The 2024 presidential election could see several Republican candidates competing for the GOP nomination.

While Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has yet to declare his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, he is expected to be a frontrunner for the GOP nomination. DeSantis could be on the campaign trail soon and is launching an offensive.

What Happened: The 2024 presidential election could see several Republican candidates competing for the GOP nomination. Former President Donald Trump was the first major candidate to announce a campaign in a re-election bid.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has also announced plans to run for president.

While DeSantis hasn’t committed to running, all signs point to a presidential campaign and a surge in having events across the country in the coming weeks could be the latest sign in a planned announcement.

DeSantis recently hosted 150 donors at a Palm Beach retreat and premiered a new video highlighting his success as the governor of Florida and the “Florida Blueprint,” according to the New York Post.

“Failure is a choice. Success is attainable. Freedom is worth fighting for,” DeSantis says in his inauguration speech from January in the new video.

The video shows images of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Dr. Anthony Fauci and discusses how Florida has seen population and economic booms despite a “floundering federal establishment.”

“Some even say that failure is inevitable. Florida is proof-positive that we the people are not destined for failure. Florida is leading the nation.”

The video attempts to highlight the differences between the Democratic administration in the White House and the state of Florida on issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic and border issues.

“When the world lost its mind. When common sense suddenly became an uncommon virtue. Florida was a refuge of sanity.”

The video also criticizes increased spending by the government that made America “weaker and our citizens poorer.”

Why It’s Important: DeSantis has given speeches in strong Democratic territories such as New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia, and is scheduled to make appearances in Texas, California and Alabama,

DeSantis is also expected to visit several leading cities in his own state to promote the “Florida Blueprint.”

Despite not being an official candidate for the 2024 election, DeSantis has been among the betting favorites and is currently listed with odds of +300 to become the 2024 president, trailing only Biden at +250, according to data from DraftKings Inc DKNG.

Many polls show DeSantis as the preferred candidate over former president Trump. A crowded field of Republican candidates could help Trump’s odds, with some polls offering multiple options seeing Trump gaining more support.

While many expect a battle between DeSantis and Trump to be highly contentious for the GOP nomination, DeSantis’s latest video could show his preference to take on the Democratic party instead.
