Spider-Man 2 PS5 Exclusive Sells 5M Copies In 11 Days, Outpacing This Epic Video Game

Sony Group Corp. SONY is celebrating the astounding success of Marvel's "Spider-Man 2," revealing that the game has surpassed the five million copies sold mark within a mere 11 days of its launch.

Insomniac, the developer, express their excitement on social media: "Woo! We're incredibly honored to announce Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PS5 has sold over five million copies! Thank you to our incredible community for supporting us and helping us reach this milestone!"

Sony had previously reported that Spider-Man 2 claimed the title of the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game within a 24-hour period, surpassing 2.5 million copies in a single day.

This achievement dethroned Santa Monica Studio’s "God of War: Ragnarok," placing "Spider-Man 2" at the top of the PlayStation day-one launch sales chart.

Despite Spider-Man's triumph, "God of War: Ragnarok" holds the record for debut week sales, having sold 5.1 million copies.

Noteworthy is the fact that Spider-Man 2 is a PS5 exclusive, catering to a smaller install base than "Ragnarok," which launched on both PlayStation 4 and PS5.

Marvel Easter eggs abound in Spider-Man 2, with references at Coney Island, including Doctor Octopus on the Octo Ride and nods to characters like Speed Demon, A.R. Cadenski, and Dazzler, adding depth to the game's immersive world.

Insomniac's future plans include a Wolverine game within the same universe, hints at a potential Venom spinoff, and speculation about Daredevil or Doctor Strange DLC.
