A Peek Into The Markets: U.S. Stock Futures Fall Ahead Of Campbell Earnings

U.S. stock futures traded lower in early pre-market trade, ahead of earnings from Campbell Soup Company CPB. Data on e-commerce sales for the fourth quarter will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET, while the index of leading economic indicators for January is schedule for release at 10:00 a.m. ET.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 38 points to 20,556.00, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index futures slipped 5.25 points to 2,340.25. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index fell 7.25 points to 5,293.25.

Oil prices traded lower as Brent crude futures dropped 0.56 percent to trade at $55.34 per barrel, while US WTI crude futures fell 0.43 percent to trade at $53.52 a barrel. The Baker Hughes North American rig count report for the latest week is schedule for release at 1:00 p.m. ET.


A Peek Into Global Markets

European markets were mostly lower today, with the Spanish Ibex Index falling 0.46 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index declining 0.28 percent and German DAX 30 index dropping 0.14 percent. The UK's FTSE index was trading higher by 0.27 percent, while French CAC 40 Index fell 0.73 percent.

In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.58 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index declined 0.31 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite Index declined 0.85 percent and India’s BSE Sensex rose 0.59 percent.


Broker Recommendation

Analysts at Piper Jaffray downgraded Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc BBW from Overweight to Neutral and lowered the price target from $18.00 to $10.50.

Build-A-Bear shares fell 21.43 percent to close at $9.35 on Thursday.
