acquired in 2013, introduced its latest robot named Atlas. Atlas is a five-foot-nine, 180-pound robot that is capable of opening doors, walking in the snow, picking up boxes, and more importantly, can overcome obstacles in its tasks. A new

of Atlas shows how the robot can pick up boxes and place them on a shelf. When a human knocks a box out of Atlas' hands, Atlas is able to retrieve the box with relative ease. When pushed to the floor, Atlas is able to propel itself back up and continue with its tasks. As

noted, Google's robot "doesn't punch you if you knock it down. Yet." Re/code also pointed out that Alphabet shifted Google's robotics group to its Google X division, the company's semi-secret research and development facility that works on "moonshots" projects. Shares of Google were trading lower by nearly 2 percent at $683.72 Wednesday morning.
