Amazon.com, Inc.AMZN
on Wednesday held its first ever
"Prime Day" which promised its Prime members "more deals than Black Friday." Some of the exclusive deals included 39 percent off an LG Electronics 32-Inch 720p Smart LED TV and 28 percent off a GoPro HERO4 BLACK Value Bundle. Wal-Mart Responds In Advance Amazon's Prime Day has been advertised to its community ahead of the event. In response, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. WMT hosted its own one day special. While doing so, the retailer took shots at Amazon by stating that its sales require "no upfront fees," a reference to Amazon Prime's annual membership cost. Wal-Mart also advertised buyers can pick up their orders "as soon as today," implying buyers can make use of its buy online and pick-up in store concept, rather than wait two days for Amazon to deliver its goods. Wal-Mart also offered similar deals on electronics and thousands of every day items. Other Retailers Jump In To The Frenzy Dansdeals.com, a popular website that discusses special deals and promotions noted Macy's, Inc. M is holdings some sales of its own. The blogging site directed its viewers to a "Black Friday In July" like- sale where a Ralph Lauren Packable Raincoat was on sale for $15.94, down from $125. Macy's is likely hosting its own sales to counter Amazon's sales which also include a 30 percent clothing, shoes, watches and other accessory sales. Not to be outdone by its rivals, Target Corporation TGT is also hosting its own sales. In fact, the company extended its sales (which include BOGO 50 percent off clothes, shoes and accessories and an extra 10 percent off with a promo code) until Saturday. Finally, Best Buy Co Inc BBY is also hosting its own sales with up to 25 percent off HDTVs, $50 to $150 off laptops, among others.
