US Stock Futures Surge Ahead Of Walgreen Earnings, Economic Data

US stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade. Walgreen Co

is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.74 per share on revenue of $19.02 billion. The S&P/Case-Shiller home price index for July will be released at 9:00 a.m. ET, while the Chicago PMI for September will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET. The Conference Board's consumer confidence index for September will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 55 points to 17,035.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 6.70 points to 1,976.20. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index gained 17.50 points to 4,053.00.
A Peek Into Global Markets
European markets were mostly higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index rising 0.84%, STOXX Europe 600 Index gaining 0.52%. German DAX 30 index rose 0.48%, French CAC 40 Index climbed 0.99% and London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.11%. German unemployment increased by 12,000 in September, while retail sales gained 2.5% in August. French consumer spending surged 0.7% in August versus July, while producer price index declined 0.3% in August versus July. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropped 0.84%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 1.28%, China's Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.26% and India's BSE Sensex dropped 0.11%.The final reading of HSBC China Manufacturing PMI came in unchanged at 50.2 in September, versus 50.2 in August.
