In a report published Tuesday, Bank of America analyst Brian Chin reiterated a Neutral rating on The Southern Company SO, and raised the price target from $42.00 to $43.00.
In the report, Bank of America noted, “Our 2014-16 consolidated EPS estimates for Southern Company are now $2.76, $2.85 and $2.96, respectively. As we stated in our 4Q earnings review, the updated EPS guidance outlook provided on the 4Q call came in light of our expectations due largely to a normalization of earnings at Southern Power, which had previously benefited from the extraordinarily low gas price environment experienced the past few years. From this lower base, we forecast a 2014-16 consolidated EPS CAGR of ~3.5%, roughly 100bps below regulated peers.”
The Southern Company closed on Monday at $42.16.
