This Microsoft Strategy Could Hurt BlackBerry

Share:

In a report published Tuesday, JP Morgan analyst Rod Hall commented on Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT)'s move to add MDM capabilities to Office 365.

Hall noted that Microsoft announced the general availability of MDM capabilities for Office 365, which is designed to give administrators the built-in capability to manage access to data in the cloud-based productive suite across iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices. The feature will be available at no additional cost in all Office 365 commercial plans.

According to Hall, Microsoft's new strategy has a "slight negative" impact to BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ: BBRY)'s business.

Shares of Microsoft traded recently at $40.59, down 0.88 percent.

Shares of BlackBerry traded at $8.77, down 0.34 percent.
