Topeka's Burning Love for Amazon Fire TV

In a report published Thursday, Topeka Capital Markets analyst Victor Anthony commented on Amazon.com Inc.'s AMZN press release and presentation on Fire TV set-top box. On Wednesday, Amazon announced the launch of Amazon Fire TV. Fire TV enables Android, console, and PC development developers to bring apps and games to the Amazon platform. Some developers on board include "2K, AOL, Bloomberg, Clear Channel, Disney, EA, ESPN, Gameloft, Hulu, Mojang, Pandora, SEGA, SHOWTIME, Telltale, Ubisoft, and Vevo." In addition to apps, Fire TV supports second screen expereinces with DIAL. Topeka Capital Markets maintained a long-term positive view on Amazon. Anthony noted that Fire TV set-top box offers individuals a "differentiated product" than others. The analyst commented, "The voice search feature, ability to play games along with the separate controller, and the high-end product specs, offer a compelling alternative to an already crowded market. The game to see who owns the living room entered a new competitive phase with Fire TV's offering, and we believe Amazon has a strong hand to play, putting pressure particularly on Apple." Shares of Amazon closed at $341.96 on Wednesday. The stock is currently down 3.417% at $330.66.
