Morgan Keegan Upbeat on Tech

Earlier today, analysts at Morgan Keegan published a research note on the technology sector. In their "Tech Bytes," they weighed in on several movements in the industry. First, the analysts seemed pleased with Logitech's LOGI acquisition of Paradial Assets. They said that it will allow them to more "closely integrate firewall and [network address translation] across its entire line of video communication solutions. Next, Morgan Keegan turned to ScanSource SCSC and its recent pre-released earnings range of $573 million to $583 million -- far higher than the street consensus of $536 million. This represents 16% growth and comes in much larger than the "normal seasonality for the June quarter for ScanSource, which is anywhere from 7%-13% sequential growth. Finally, the analysts turned to the "premature departure" of Ciena Chief Integration Officer Arthur Smith, who resigned last night. Smith had worked at Ciena since 1997 after a decade at Nortel, which is still not fully integrated with Ciena. As a result, MK called the decision "puzzling." He will be replaced by James Frodsham.
