In stark contrast to Cisco Systems, Inc. CSCO, Motorola MOT adamantly stated that it is not seeing any slowdown in government spending, Citigroup reports.
“Management believes even though Motorola Solutions may sell to same general end market, there are important differences: MOT is more heavily exposed to Federal and public safety sector (which typically has less cyclical budgeting),” Citigroup writes. “MOT's products are often part of a long-tail contract and thus less subject to reactive budget cuts and have high priority (e.g., high need to replace firemen's radios vs. LAN switch purchase that can be pushed out).”
Motorola currently trades at $7.94; Cisco trades at $19.95.
