While the stock market closes every Friday at 4pm Eastern, there are several ways to trade during the weekend. Here's a breakdown of the NFL, courtesy of Tradesports.com.
Heading into New England this Sunday to take on the Patriots, the Indianapolis Colts have the toughest road to win the Super Bowl, according to data from Tradesports.com (where users trade stocks with prices based on teams' odds to win the Super Bowl). The team is currently trading at just 14 percent in the fantasy sports stock market.
By comparison, the Seattle Seahawks are trading at 35 percent, the Patriots are at 34 percent and the Green Bay Packers are at 16 percent.
As the graph above indicates, the “Colts to win” stock has never traded above 19 percent, despite the fact that Andrew Luck and the Colts defeated Peyton Manning and the Broncos in Denver last week.
The reasoning?
It's most likely due to New England’s track record of playoff success; the team has won three Super Bowls and appeared in five championships during Tom Brady’s tenure.
In the 2014 regular season, the Patriots went 7-1 at home. And last week, the team became the first in NFL history to ever come back from two different 14-point deficits to win a playoff game.
