Green Mountain Coffee Roasters GMCR may be green with joy over its deal with Starbucks SBUX, but Peet's Coffee & Tea Inc. PEET isn't yet “available” to comment on how it feels on the matter.
That's the official word Benzinga received when it placed calls with the company this afternoon.
However, a contact at a Peet's Coffee store in California said that coffee pods are something the company has looked into, but added that nothing has been announced at this time.
Meanwhile, Starbucks and Green Mountain are soaring today, presumably on the news of their new venture together, which brings Starbucks coffee to Green Mountain's K-Cup machines. Peet's Coffee, on the other hand, is down nearly 12%.
Earlier today, Janney Montgomery Scott downgraded Peet's Coffee from Buy to Sell. Janney Montgomery Scott also lowered its price target to $42.
