The Samsung Comeback: Galaxy S8 Will Feature Advanced AI Features

Samsung's Note 7 fiasco resulted in the smartphone device being labeled as a "fundamentally defective product." However, the South Korea-based company isn't going to sit back and let its reputation suffer indefinitely.

According to a Bloomberg report, Samsung is on a mission to regain its title as an innovative and market leading smartphone manufacturer with its new flagship device, the Galaxy S8.

Samsung Executive Vice President Rhee In-jong was quoted as saying that the Galaxy S8 will feature artificial intelligence capabilities that are "significantly differentiated" from what is found on other devices, such as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) phones through Siri or Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL)'s AI-service.

Samsung, fresh off its acquisition of the artificial-intelligence software company Viv Labs, will offer consumers access to useful information ranging from weather to flight information based on the user's individual activity.

Samsung needs to present a winner not only to preserve its reputation, but recoup the upwards of $6 billion in costs and lost profit from the Note 7 debacle.

The S8 will now become Samsung's de facto showcase phone.

Needless to say, the competition is more than fierce among technology companies looking to implement the latest artificial intelligence technology. Even companies like, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) are looking to gain share in the AI space with its Alexa device.
