- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launched to the public this past Tuesday. The game sold 6.5 million copies in the first 24 hours, making $400 million.

- Firefox 8 was released to the public with Twitter search integration, improvements to tab management, and improvements to privacy settings for third-party add-ons
- HP is reportedly looking for a possible buyer of its webOS division, which was axed earlier this year. In a conference call, HP CEO Meg Whitman stated that the company does not know exactly what to do with the division at this time, but a decision will be coming in three to four weeks.
- Apple updated the Apple Store app for iOS (App Store link) with support for its new self-checkout feature at retail stores
- Google announced that it will be deprecating the Gmail for BlackBerry native app later this month. The app will not be available for download or supported by Google past November 22, 2011. Google recommends Gmail users use the mobile interface of the email service.
