Concept: possible interface for "Assistant" feature in iOS 5?

There have been several reports over the past few weeks that iOS 5 will include a new feature that is dubbed "Assistant." Assistant is essentially putting Apple's acquisition of the Siri personal assistant engine to use, allowing users to perform actions on their device by speaking. Assistant, according to the report, will be an exclusive and major feature of the next-generation iPhone, whether that be the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5.

MacRumors has created a mockup video of what the interface of Assistant may look like, based on sources with knowledge on the matter.

We've created this artist rendition (above) of what the Assistant interface looks like based on sources with knowledge of the feature. After a long press on the home button, the screen fades and slides up, just like with the multitasking interface. Revealed is a silver icon with an animated orbiting purple flare which indicates a ready state. From what we've been told, this image is a close representation of the actual Assistant interface.

Apple will be holding a media event on October 4 where it is expected to announce a new iPhone, along with this new feature.
