As planned, Mozilla released the seventh major release of its web browser, Firefox, to the public today. Firefox 7 has been in testing over the past couple of months and is now ready to be released as a stable build. Firefox 7 is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux users.
Improvements / new features are listed below:
- General performance improvements, specifically with memory usage
- Hardware-accelerated Canvas will improve performance with HTML5 animations and games
- The W3C navigation timing spec is now supported by Firefox, allowing developers to measure page load times and more
- More
The Firefox 7 update is available for download here or within a previous version of the web browser.
Just as Microsoft usually does when Mozilla ships a new build of Firefox, the Redmond-based company has sent over a cupcake to the Firefox team to celebrate. No word on the flavor, but we expect it to be delicious.
