Coinbase Rolls Out Lightning Network Support in Collaboration with Lightspark

<div>Nearly a week after the body of Dave Schultz was discovered in a field less than a mile from where his abandoned red- and white-striped Peterbilt with a loaded trailer of pigs was located in Sac County, Iowa, his family has more questions than answers.</div>

The Wall Lake, Iowa, man's widow, Sarah Schultz, says she's relieved that Dave's body has been found. But she and other family members still don't know how he died and why it took 155 days for the 53-year-old's body to be found in an area that had been heavily searched after he was reported missing on Nov. 21, 2023.

"It's good that he was found — at least we know where he is and we can be at ease with that, even though we don't know what happened yet" Sarah Schultz told FreightWaves. "I've been dreading this day, but I'm relieved it's over. It's exhausting to wonder and wait every time a body is found to find out if it was Dave. I feel exhausted."

Sarah said she received a call Wednesday from Sac County Sheriff Ken McClure that someone had reported finding a body in a field. She confirmed the boots and truck keys found at the scene belonged to her husband.

On Thursday, the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner conducted a forensic autopsy and identified Dave by his dental records.

Darrell Simmons, special agent in charge at the Iowa Department of Safety, said investigators don't suspect foul play based on the initial autopsy but that it may take up to six weeks before histology and toxicology reports are completed.

"Once the final autopsy report comes back, I want to sit down with the medical examiner and go over everything and make sure that we are confident in what we're going to release at that point and time" Simmons told FreightWaves. "We will probably never understand everything that happened, but when we get more of this information back from the autopsy lab results, we can hopefully get some idea of what led up to this or why this might have happened." 

<h2 id="h-a-mysterious-disappearance">A mysterious disappearance</h2>

Sarah said she last saw her husband alive around 7 p.m. on Nov. 20, after he stopped by the house to change clothes before heading out to pick up a Seaboard Foods load of 120 pigs near Eagle Grove, Iowa. Seaboard Foods is the third-largest pig producer in the United States and the fourth-leading pork processor. It has farm operations in Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Colorado, according to its website.

However, authorities say Dave never arrived for his midnight appointment at the site where he was supposed to offload the pigs: the Wiechman Pig Co. buying station in Sac City, Iowa. Wiechman's home office is in Fremont, Nebraska, and it has 16 locations in the Midwest, including six pig-buying stations in Iowa.

Around 3 p.m. on Nov. 21, a Sac County secondary road employee reported seeing Dave's custom rig in the northbound lane of County Road N-14, but no Dave. The rig was facing the opposite direction of the buying station where Dave was scheduled to arrive with his load of pigs.

In the cab of his truck, investigators found his wallet, including his driver's license, cellphone and around $2,000 in cash, which Sarah confirmed he had in his wallet earlier. His coat was in a nearby ditch.

After the rig was found, law enforcement searched the immediate area on foot and with a K-9, according to a Dec. 9 press release by McClure.

"The Sac County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the Iowa State Patrol airwing unit" McClure said in the release. "An airplane was dispatched from Iowa City that was equipped with forward-looking infrared. A State Patrol pilot flew over the surrounding area and did not detect a heat signature that would be consistent with a person. For the next two days, law enforcement, area firefighters and volunteers expanded the ground search on foot and with the use of drones.  Nothing of significant value was located."

Investigators obtained video footage showing Dave at 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 21 at the Marker 126 Travel Center east of Fort Dodge, Iowa, on U.S. Highway 20. According to the press release, Dave was there for 16 minutes. He is then seen on a Department of Transportation camera on Highway 20 west of the truck stop heading west.

"This was the last time David was seen" McClure said. "Cellphone data obtained from David Schultz's phone corroborates this timeline."

Aiding in the search were members of the nonprofit search-and-rescue group the United Cajun Navy, led by Jake Rowley, the organization's Midwest team leader, along with countless volunteers. They searched over 100,000 acres in the area where the tractor-trailer was found, but without success.

Sarah said she is convinced something happened at the truck stop because when the rig was found, it was facing the wrong direction and the headlights and flashers were off. Dave wouldn't have done that, she said, because a vehicle traveling on that part of the highway could have struck the back of the rig in the dark.

"I still believe he was taken because I've talked to people who searched that field and said there's no way in hell they could have missed him" she said.

Simmons declined to comment further until final autopsy results are available.

In the five months since Dave was first reported missing, Sarah said she has tried to stay strong for the couple's 10-year-old twin boys, Isaack and Joseph, who have been in grief counseling since their dad went missing.

"I never believed that Dave had taken off and left us to start a new life. Anybody that knew Dave knew he wouldn't do that" she said. "He wouldn't have left me or the boys."

Prior to Dave's disappearance, he had recently purchased a bright yellow Peterbilt and was fixing it up. Sarah said the truck has since been sold. The red and white Pete that Dave was driving on the night he went missing is also for sale but needs a little work first, she said.

"I'm hoping it will sell soon because Dave didn't have life insurance" Sarah said. "He was in good shape; he could outrun our 10-year-old boys. We didn't count on him dying so young."

Sarah's cousin, Ramie Uren, has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help with the family's financial expenses.

No date has been set for his funeral as Sarah said she wants to ensure that Dave's family is included in the planning.

"I have a meeting on Tuesday after I drop the kids off at school" she said. "I know Dave's brother will be there, and hopefully his parents will be there, too, to start the arrangements and picking things out for the service. I've never planned a funeral before. I'm still trying to make sense of why this happened and what happened."

The battle between Donald Trump and Joe Biden for the White House is nearing the six-month mark for voters to decide which candidate will win the<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/2024-election"> 2024 election on Nov. 5, 2024.</a>
A new poll shows how voters in key swing states would vote today.
What Happened: Many<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/election-poll"> election polls </a>point to a close race between Biden and Trump in the 2024 election, an event that could be a rematch of the 2020 presidential election won by Biden.
A new Emerson College poll shows how voters in key swing states would vote in a head-to-head matchup of Trump and Biden and also how they would vote when the two candidates face off against key third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Here are the results for the head-to-head <a href="https://emersoncollegepolling.com/trump-holds-edge-over-biden-in-seven-key-swing-state-polls/">poll</a>:
Arizona: 44% Biden, 48% Trump, 8% Undecided
Georgia: 44% Biden, 47% Trump, 9% Undecided
Michigan: 44% Biden, 45% Trump, 11% Undecided
Nevada: 44% Biden, 45% Trump, 11% Undecided
North Carolina: 42% Biden, 47% Trump, 10% Undecided
Pennsylvania: 45% Biden, 47% Trump, 8% Undecided
Wisconsin: 45% Biden, 47% Trump, 8% Undecided
The poll shows Trump winning all seven states in the head-to-head matchup against Biden. Trump's lead is only one point in several states.
"The share of undecided voters has reduced and Biden gained ground in Georgia and Nevada, narrowing the gap, while Trump has maintained a slight edge on Biden in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin," Emerson College Polling executive director Spencer Kimball said.
Here are the results of the poll when Robert F. Kennedy and other candidates are considered. The remaining percentage for each state went to other or undecided.
Arizona: 40% Biden, 44% Trump, 9% Kennedy Jr.
Georgia: 39% Biden, 45% Trump, 5% Kennedy Jr.
Michigan: 42% Biden, 43% Trump, 5% Kennedy Jr.
Nevada: 37% Biden, 42% Trump, 8% Kennedy Jr.
North Carolina: 37% Biden, 46% Trump, 6% Kennedy Jr.
Pennsylvania: 41% Biden, 45% Trump, 6% Kennedy Jr.
Wisconsin: 40% Biden, 45% Trump, 6% Kennedy Jr.
When third-party candidates are included for voters, Biden loses more support than Trump in five states. Two states (Arizona, Michigan) see both Biden and Trump lose the same amount of support.

Why It's Important: The poll results show Trump with a lead in all states in head-to-head and with other candidates to choose from.
The poll also found that Independent voters favored Trump over Biden in five of the swing states with Biden winning in Georgia and Wisconsin. Biden also led Trump in the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin among voters who are members of labor unions.
The other bad news for Biden was the poll asking voters about the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/politics/24/04/38326553/trump-hush-money-trial-has-12-jurors-here-are-the-7-men-5-women-to-decide-former-presidents-fate">criminal case against Trump</a> alleging hush money payments. The poll found that voters in six of the seven states said they were more likely to support Trump if he's found guilty in the case versus the number of voters who said they were less likely to support Trump.
The <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/politics/24/03/37884006/trump-vs-biden-key-swing-states-arizona-nevada-michigan-wisconsin-show-close-races-heres-the-rol" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">seven swing states </a>together represent 93 electoral votes in the 2024 election. Six of the seven swing states were won by Biden in the 2020 election, with Trump winning North Carolina. Five of the seven swing states won by Biden in 2020 flipped from Trump&#8217;s win in 2016, including Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin.
While the 2024 election is months away, recent polls of voters in swing states have not shown favorable results for Biden, which could be worrisome for his campaign.

A YouTuber begged people to put $1 into Bitcoin in a video shared on May 9, 2013. Here's a look back at the video and how much viewers could have made following his advice.
What Happened: YouTuber Davinci Jeremie launched several videos about Bitcoin prior to 2013, including those calling for viewers to<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/04/38041549/trader-who-urged-everyone-to-buy-1-of-bitcoin-in-2013-now-advocates-for-dogecoin-killer-sh"> buy $1 in Bitcoin.</a>
His most famous video was one from May 9, 2013, titled "Bitcoin update – just buy $1 worth of bitcoin please!"
In the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw29h7LhEuE">video</a>, Jeremie told viewers Bitcoin "is more than just a payment system." The YouTuber praised Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto in the video and said the cryptocurrency could remain free and open and accomplish many things in the future.
"It is a freedom provider for the rest of humanity," Jeremie said.
Jeremie recognized many viewers were skeptical of Bitcoin, but he suggested investing a small amount of money and putting it into Bitcoin, then placing the investment aside for years.
"I suggest you take one fricking dollar, one dollar, buy some Bitcoins."
The YouTuber said it's just a dollar so if the investment goes to zero, you're not out much.
"It's just a dollar, get some Bitcoins."
Jeremie said he knew most viewers wouldn't take his advice.
"You're going to be thanking me."
Fast forward to 2024 and listening to Jeremie's advice could have netted huge returns for anyone who listened to his YouTube video.
Bitcoin traded between $109.60 and $115.78 on May 9, 2013, the date the video aired on YouTube, according to data from <a href="https://www.statmuse.com/money/ask/bitcoin-price-may-2013">Statmuse</a>. 
Investing $1 at the time could have purchased 0.0086 Bitcoin based on the day's high price. Today that $1 investment would be worth $516.26 based on a price of $60,029.90 for Bitcoin at the time of writing.
This marks an incredible return of 51,526% over the past 11 years.

The hypothetical investment illustrates how a small investment can grow over time. The small amount also shows the risk/reward profile illustrated by Jeremie who told viewers that if Bitcoin went to $0 they were only out the $1 they put into the cryptocurrency.
Jeremie has grown his following on YouTube to 519,000 <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP0g6ygQkYjmog801YnNqtQ">subscribers </a>thanks to his previous call on Bitcoin. The content creator also has over 600,000 followers on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/davincij15/?hl=en">Instagram</a>.

3 Auto Stocks to Buy With Solid 2024 Returns

Nio (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nio-stock-quote/">NIO</a>) announced a battery swapping and charging agreement with Lotus (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/lot-stock-quote/">LOT</a>), which Chinese car marker Geely (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/gelyy-stock-quote/">GELYY</a>) controls.



The announcement was made at the annual <a href="https://www.automotiveworld.com/news-releases/nio-and-lotus-enter-into-strategic-cooperation-on-charging-and-swapping/">Beijing Car Show.</a>



This sent NIO stock up 3% on April 24, but it lost one-third of that gain overnight. The stock opened this morning at $4.15 per share, a market capitalization of about $8.6 billion. Geely has a market cap of $11.7 billion.



<h2>Big Brother Geely</h2>



Geely is the big brother in this deal.



The Chinese company had sales of $22.5 billion last year, three times the $7.67 billion achieved by Nio.



Geely owns a host of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geely">both gas-powered and electric vehicle (EV) lines</a> and has stakes in others, including Mercedes-Benz (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/mbgaf-stock-quote/">MBGAF</a>). Its best-known brands in the U.S. are Volvo (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/vlvly-stock-quote/">VLVLY</a>) and its Polestar (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/psny-stock-quote/">PSNY</a>) EV unit. Polestar has <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/polestar-start-production-south-carolina-2024-says-ceo-2023-04-18/">a factory in South Carolina</a> and was taken public through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) <a href="https://investorplace.com/2022/03/polestar-evs-are-too-niche-for-long-term-ggpi-stock-growth/">in 2022</a>.



Nio has been seeking alliances around the world for its <a href="https://investorplace.com/2023/03/nio-stock-alert-nio-launches-high-speed-battery-swap-stations/">battery swap technology</a>, which differentiates it from other EV makers. Abu Dhabi now has <a href="https://investorplace.com/2023/12/nio-stock-alert-nio-surges-on-a-2-2-billion-investment/">a 20% stake</a> in the company.



Nio is pinning its hopes on an export push driven by low-cost vehicles like <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/04/nio-stock-is-the-canary-in-the-ev-market-coal-mine/">the Onvo</a>. It&rsquo;s facing pushback from European regulators who <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/01/nio-stock-alert-europe-plans-to-investigate-chinese-ev-makers/">want to slow the roll</a> of all Chinese EV makers, including Geely.



Lotus is <a href="https://cnevpost.com/2024/04/25/nio-lotus-partnership-charging-battery-swap/">a British car name</a> that Geely helped take public in New York <a href="https://media.lotuscars.com/en/news-articles/lotus-technology-celebrates-public-listing-on-nasdaq.html">in February</a>. Lotus is pushing its own re-boot as a luxury EV brand with <a href="https://www.leaders-mena.com/lotus-cars-makes-grand-re-entry-in-saudi-arabian-market/">a dealer network in Saudi Arabia</a>.



<h2>NIO Stock: What Happens Next?</h2>

It can be hard to tell who is from where just from the name. Chinese companies like Geely will exploit this to enter the U.S. and Europe. Nio will be by its side.

Self-driving cars are hitting the roads, creating a big opportunity for autonomous driving stocks.



Mercedes-Benz&nbsp;(OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/mbgyy-stock-quote/">MBGYY</a>) just became the&nbsp;<a href="https://mashable.com/article/mercedes-benz-level-3-autonomy">first automaker to sell Level 3 autonomous cars</a> in the U.S. And it doesn&rsquo;t need a driver to watch the road.&nbsp;



Level 3 refers to different stages of driving automation. Levels 0, 1 and 2 refer to driver support features, which can steer, accelerate and brake. However, a driver must constantly supervise and take over when needed.&nbsp;



WithLevels 3, 4 and 5, a driver is not driving when automated driving features are on. That&rsquo;s even if you are in the driver&rsquo;s seat. With Level 3, though, when requested by the features, you have to take control of the car. With Levels 4 and 5, automated driving features will not require you to take over,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.sae.org/blog/sae-j3016-update">as noted by SAE International</a>.



One of the biggest reasons&nbsp;Tesla&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsla-stock-quote/">TSLA</a>) isn&rsquo;t at a Level 3 is because, according to The Verge,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/26/24141361/tesla-autopilot-fsd-nhtsa-investigation-report-crash-death">its self-driving cars have been linked to hundreds of crashes</a> and deaths.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/26/tesla-autopilot-linked-to-hundreds-of-collisions-has-critical-safety-gap-nhtsa.html">As noted by CNBC</a>, &ldquo;Tesla&rsquo;s Autopilot design has &lsquo;led to foreseeable misuse and avoidable crashes,&rsquo; the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report said. The system did not &ldquo;sufficiently ensure driver attention and appropriate use.&rdquo;



Meanwhile, it was just reported that a self-driving&nbsp;Waymo&nbsp;<a href="https://futurism.com/self-driving-waymo-wrong-side-street">taxi was seen driving down the wrong side of the road.</a>



While Waymo and Tesla still have a lot of work to do, Mercedes-Benz seems to be off to a good start, which could help fuel upside potential for other autonomous driving stocks.



<h2>Nvidia (NVDA)</h2>

According to Nvidia&rsquo;s&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nvda-stock-quote/">NVDA</a>) CFO Collette Kress,&nbsp;&ldquo;nearly every automotive company working on AI is working with Nvidia,&rdquo;&nbsp;<a href="https://qz.com/nvidia-says-its-steering-self-driving-cars-into-the-fut-1851276849">as quoted by QZ.com</a>.&nbsp;



Nvidia is also working with <a href="https://qz.com/nvidia-says-its-steering-self-driving-cars-into-the-fut-1851276849">hundreds of auto companies</a>, including carmakers, truck makers and robotaxis. That includes Mercedes,&nbsp;Volvo&nbsp;(OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/vlvly-stock-quote/">VLVLY</a>) and&nbsp;Hyundai (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/hymtf-stock-quote/">HYMTF</a>). Even Tesla was a big client in 2023, buying H100 GPUs.



Granted, NVDA is an $877 stock at the moment but it&rsquo;s still a bargain. Some analysts say it could fly well above $1,000 near term.&nbsp;<a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/video/loop-capital-initiates-nvidia-coverage-155832622.html">Loop Capital, for example, says NVDA could test $1,200</a>, noting that company earnings will significantly beat estimates this year. The firm also has a buy rating on the stock. Even Oppenheimer analysts raised their price target to $850, citing growth from its data center revenue.&nbsp;



Every pullback in NVDA is a buying opportunity.



<h2>Ambarella (AMBA)</h2>

After dropping on earnings, the stock is now oversold and is attempting to pivot higher. It&rsquo;s also over-extended on RSI, MACD, and Williams&rsquo; %R. Better, if you look at a two-year chart of AMBA, you&rsquo;ll see that each time those three indicators align in oversold territory. And just as they&rsquo;re doing now, the stock tends to bounce back. It&rsquo;s happened about eight times since 2022.



With negativity now priced into AMBA stock, I&rsquo;d like to see it retest $65 again near term. Helping, the company just announced a strategic deal focused on advanced mobility systems.



<a href="https://investor.ambarella.com/news-releases/news-release-details/sany-group-and-ambarella-announce-strategic-cooperation">As noted in a recent press release</a>, SANY&nbsp;Group &ldquo;agreed to leverage Ambarella&rsquo;s powerful CV3-AD family of automotive AI domain controller systems-on-chip (SoCs) to develop advanced automated driving solutions, and to achieve technical validation and deployment on its next-gen commercial vehicles and special-purpose vehicles.&rdquo;



Kodiak Robotics&nbsp;also noted that its&nbsp;next-generation self-driving truck platform will use Ambarella&rsquo;s CV3-AD685 SoC to &ldquo;<a href="https://www.ambarella.com/news/kodiak-robotics-selects-ambarella-ai-domain-controller-soc-for-next-generation-autonomous-trucks/#:~:text=Designed%20with%20Ambarella's%20%E2%80%9Calgorithm%20first,wide%20variety%20of%20environmental%20conditions.">provide a high-performance compute solution</a>&nbsp;in the smallest form factor, which enables Kodiak&rsquo;s modular autonomous vehicle platform hardware across a wide variety of environmental conditions,&rdquo; as noted in an AMBA press release.



<h2>Global X Autonomous &amp; Electric Vehicles ETF (DRIV)</h2>

With an expense ratio of 0.68%, the ETF currently&nbsp;invests in 45 stocks involved in the development of autonomous vehicle technology, electric vehicles and EV components and materials.&nbsp;Some of its top holdings include&nbsp;Nvidia,&nbsp;Toyota Motor&nbsp;(NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tm-stock-quote/">TM</a>),&nbsp;Microsoft&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/msft-stock-quote/">MSFT</a>), Tesla, and&nbsp;Apple&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/aapl-stock-quote/">AAPL</a>) to name a few.



At less than $24 a share, the DRIV ETF has been trending higher since bottoming out at around $23 a share. From its current price of $23.27, I&rsquo;d like to see it retest $27.50 near term. What&rsquo;s nice about the ETF is that I can buy 100 shares of it for about $2,327. Meanwhile, if I were to buy 100 shares of just one of its holdings, such as TSLA, it would cost me close to $16,830.
