The storm is expected to lash over the Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
Milton Vs. Previous Hurricanes: Hurricane Milton gathered maximum sustained wind speeds of 180 miles per hour by Monday night, and in terms of wind speed it only trails a 1980 hurricane, which went by the name Allen and boasted a top wind speed of 190 mph before it made landfall in the U.S.-Mexican border,<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/07/weather/hurricane-milton-forecast-path.html"> said</a> New York Times.
Going by pressure &#8211; which is another measure of a storm&#8217;s intensity, Milton is similar to Hurricane Wilma from the 2005 hurricane season that holds the record for the lowest pressure, the Times said.
The latest<a href="https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCPAT4+shtml/080541.shtml"> update</a> issued by the National Hurricane Center early Tuesday showed Milton weakening to a Category 4 storm with wind speed slowing to 155 mph. The hurricane was moving east at 9 mph and was located 585 miles southwest of Tampa.
Milton is expected to regain Category 5 strength Tuesday morning and maintain this strength through the day, CNN&#8217;s <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/weather/live-news/hurricane-milton-florida-10-08-24/index.html">update </a>showed. It would then fluctuate in intensity before making landfall on Wednesday as a Category 3 storm.
Certified Consulting Meteorologist and NBC 6 South Florida John Morales, while on air, was overwhelmed with emotion as he described the hurricane. &#8220;It&#8217;s just an incredible, incredible, incredible hurricane. It has dropped 50 millibars in 10 hours,&#8221; he said before pausing to suppress his emotion. &#8220;I apologize. This is just horrific,&#8221; he said. Josh Linville, Director of Fertilizer at integrated trading platform StoneX, said the phosphate market could be hurt. In an X post, he said, &#8220;FL is built to withstand hurricanes&#8230;to an extent. This looks bad. This looks really bad,&#8221; he said.
Even if production facilities withstand major damage, they need workers to run the plants, he added.

Nasdaq Set to Launch PureStream in Europe, Enhancing Access to EU Shares in 2025

The U.S. Department of Justice on Monday raised objections to bankrupt EV maker Fisker&#8216;s liquidation plan on behalf of the auto safety regulator National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), noting that automakers cannot charge customers for repairs of safety-related issues identified with their vehicles. 
What Happened: The DOJ&#8217;s court filing dated Oct. 7 noted that an auto manufacturer must remedy any safety issues identified with their vehicles at no cost to the customer. 
Fisker, the filing noted, has identified five safety-related issues, three of which were fixed by <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/06/39305632/nearly-bankrupt-fisker-to-recall-over-18-000-ocean-suvs-across-north-america-and-europe">over-the-air software updates</a>, and the remaining two that <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/06/39547015/fisker-recalls-over-8-000-ocean-suvs-in-us-over-4-000-vehicles-in-canada-and-europe-over-faulty-door">require physical repairs</a>.
The liquidation plan put forth by Fisker, the filing said, puts the onus of covering labor expenses for the physical repairs on the drivers. The vehicle owners might be reimbursed at some point in the future, as per the plan. Charging customers, however, is in violation of the provisions of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, the DOJ noted. 
Why It Matters: Earlier this week, it was reported that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41204011/bankrupt-ev-maker-fisker-under-us-sec-investigation-for-potential-securities-law-violation">also raised objections</a> to Fisker&#8217;s liquidation plan. 
The SEC said that it has an ongoing police and regulatory interest in Fisker's books and records and may need to request or subpoena additional documents in the future. The liquidation plan put forth by the company in September, however, does not specify which books and records will be transferred to whom, the regulator alleged.

"It was your typical middle class. My dad would leave in the morning, you know, 7 a.m., get back at six. You know, mom doing whatever," Cuban recalled on the "Life in Seven Songs" <a href="https://link.chtbl.com/X2XxhkGp?sid=benzinga">podcast</a>.
As the oldest child, Cuban said he had a lot of freedom and responsibility to figure things out for himself.
"And that, as the oldest, that left me a lot of time to myself. And so, you know, my parents were very much about you figure it out. You figure it out," he says, emphasizing how his parents instilled a sense of self-reliance in him. This philosophy laid the groundwork for the entrepreneurial spirit that would later define Cuban's career.
At just 12 years old, Cuban's knack for hustling emerged when he took on his first sales gig.
"Literally, I would go door to door and be like, ‘Hi. My name is Mark. Do you use trash bags? I killed it,'" he remembers proudly. That door-to-door hustle quickly taught him valuable lessons about resilience, communication, and the importance of seizing opportunities.

Cuban's childhood side gigs didn't end there.
"And, you know, just that attitude. I mean, I sold baseball cards, bought and sold stamps once, you know, when I was going door to door and I realized that it wasn&#8217;t anything horrific," he explains.
Each experience helped him build the confidence and skills that would carry him through his later ventures.
Cuban's early years show how simple beginnings, like selling trash bags, can set the stage for big dreams. His story is a testament to the power of persistence, creativity, and the willingness to take risks—traits that have defined his career ever since.

The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed a decline in the overall market sentiment, but the index remained in the &#8220;Greed&#8221; zone on Monday.
U.S. stocks settled lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones index dipping around 400 points during the session amid higher Treasury yields. The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield topped 4% for the first time since August.
Data released Friday showed the U.S. economy added 254,000 jobs in September, compared to a revised 159,000 gain in August, and topping market estimates of 147,000. The unemployment rate declined to 4.1% in September from 4.2% in the previous month. U.S. stock recorded gains last week, with the S&amp;P 500 gaining 0.22% and the Dow adding 0.09%. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, added 0.1% last week.
The Federal Reserve will release minutes from its recent meeting on Wednesday, while data on the consumer price index will be released on Thursday.
Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a negative note, with consumer discretionary, utilities, and communication services stocks recording the biggest losses on Monday. However, energy stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.
The Dow Jones closed lower by around 399 points to 41,954.24 on Monday. The S&amp;P 500 fell 0.96% to 5,695.94, while the Nasdaq Composite dipped 1.18% to close at 17,923.90 during Monday's session.
Investors are awaiting earnings results from PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PEP#NASDAQ">PEP</a>) and Accolade, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ACCD#NASDAQ">ACCD</a>) today.
What is CNN Business Fear &amp; Greed Index?
At a current reading of 70.5, the index remained in the &#8220;Greed&#8221; zone on Monday, versus a prior reading of 73.6.
The Fear &amp; Greed Index is a measure of the current market sentiment. It is based on the premise that higher fear exerts pressure on stock prices, while higher greed has the opposite effect. The index is calculated based on seven equal-weighted indicators. The index ranges from 0 to 100, where 0 represents maximum fear and 100 signals maximum greediness.

PepsiCo shares fell 0.5% to close at $167.21 on Monday.</li>
<li>MEDIROM Healthcare Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MRM#NASDAQ">MRM</a>) said it acquired all of the rehabilitation centers of Y's, Inc. However, the terms of the transaction were not disclosed. MEDIROM Healthcare shares gained 7.2% to $2.84 in the after-hours trading session.</li>
<li>Analysts are expecting Accolade, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ACCD#NASDAQ">ACCD</a>) to post a quarterly loss at 44 cents per share on revenue of $105.01 million. The company will release earnings before the markets open. Accolade shares gained 3% to $4.0899 in after-hours trading.</li>

Mark Cuban is best known for his roles as <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/mark-cuban">a billionaire entrepreneur</a>, Shark Tank investor, and former majority owner <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/sports/23/12/36402593/mark-cubans-slam-dunk-deal-mavericks-majority-stake-sale-clears-the-net-whats-the-next-play">of the Dallas Mavericks.</a>
But long before these titles, Cuban had a brief stint in the world of music. As a young boy, he tried his hand at playing in a band called The Not So Human Beings.
In an appearance on the "Life in Seven Songs" <a href="https://link.chtbl.com/X2XxhkGp?sid=benzinga">podcast</a>, Cuban recalled his early band and even played some audio recordings he found.
"I was in a band for about 15 minutes, and it was me and my buddies. And we called ourselves The Not So Human Beings," Cuban recalled. "We were 12 years old and we couldn&#8217;t sing worth a damn right. But I tried to teach myself guitar and I took piano lessons for about six months so I can read sheet music."

The band was far from a professional endeavor.
"It was just covers. We didn&#8217;t play anywhere except our basement. And that was a locked door basement because our parents couldn&#8217;t stand it," he said. Even with the humble beginnings, there's a certain nostalgia in his voice when he talks about those days.
As Cuban reminisces, he gives listeners a glimpse into his youthful ambitions and relentless drive, even when his pursuits were as simple as learning to play guitar.
Cuban's short-lived band may not have catapulted him to rock star fame, but it's clear that his inclination to try new things—even when the odds were stacked against him—started at a young age. While&nbsp;The Not So Human Beings&nbsp;may have been just a basement band, the drive that fueled their formation is the same drive that later propelled Cuban to success in the world of business.
On the podcast, Cuban also highlights the songs he uses to describe the soundtrack of his life, with songs picked to describe his early years, time on Shark Tank and time owning the Dallas Mavericks.

Mark Cuban 'Couldn't Sing Worth A Damn,' But He Played Guitar In A Band: 'Our Parents Couldn't Stand It'

Elon Musk&#8216;s SpaceX said on Monday that its Starship&#8216;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/09/40967983/spacex-pushes-ahead-with-fifth-starship-test-flight-preparation-despite-no-faa-launch-approvals-in-s">fifth test flight</a> could launch as soon as Oct. 13 if it receives necessary regulatory approvals.
What Happened: The schedule, however, is likely to change, the company warned, citing the dynamic schedules associated with all developmental testing activities. 
For the upcoming flight, the goal is to&nbsp;catch the two-stage launch vehicle&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/06/39543299/spacex-preparing-to-catch-starship-booster-at-starbase-during-next-test-flight-instead-of-splashing" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">booster back at Starbase</a>&nbsp;using the launch tower's mechanical arms, marking a significant demonstration of Starship&#8217;s reusability. The Starship spacecraft, meanwhile, will splash down in the Indian Ocean. 
SpaceX is looking to ensure full reusability for its Starship rocket. The company believes reusing rockets is integral to bringing down spaceflight costs as the most cost is taken up in building the launch vehicle.

Past Flight Tests:&nbsp;SpaceX has conducted four flight tests with the Starship thus far.
SpaceX&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/06/39226248/elon-musk-outlines-future-starship-goals-after-successful-fourth-flight-test" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">last launched Starship</a>&nbsp;in the first half of June. During the test, the two stages of the vehicle – the Starship spacecraft and the Super Heavy booster – separated, and the booster subsequently had a soft splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico. The spacecraft ignited its engines and went into space, made a controlled re-entry to Earth, and had a soft splashdown in the Indian Ocean.
The entire flight lasted one hour and six minutes from launch. The key object of the flight was to re-enter Earth and the mission achieved it while withstanding damage to the vehicle.
The flights before accomplished less. While the spacecraft failed to reach space in the first flight, it reached space and exploded in the second test flight. During the third flight test, the spacecraft broke apart when re-entering Earth&#8217;s atmosphere from space.
Why It Matters:&nbsp;In September, SpaceX said that Starship has been&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/08/40305893/starship-fifth-flight-delayed-spacex-ceo-elon-musk-gives-fresh-august-end-timeline" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ready for its fifth flight test</a>&nbsp;since the first week of August but has been put off owing to &#8220;frivolous&#8221; and &#8220;patently absurd&#8221; licensing issues.
&#8220;Unfortunately, we continue to be stuck in a reality where it takes longer to do the government paperwork to license a rocket launch than it does to design and build the actual hardware,&#8221; SpaceX said.
The company then said that it received a launch license date estimate of late November for the fifth flight from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), marking a two-month delay from the previously communicated date of mid-September. However, SpaceX is now seemingly optimistic about receiving approvals a month earlier. 
Starship is key to NASA&#8217;s dreams of taking humans back to the surface of the Moon.
NASA&#8217;s Artemis 3 mission slated to launch no earlier than September 2026 is expected to enable humans to land back on the surface of the moon with the help of a lunar lander variant of the Starship spacecraft. The last time humans set foot on the Moon was in 1972&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/01/36692749/just-a-worse-version-of-apollo-elon-musk-baffled-by-nasa-veterans-push-to-ditch-spacex-blue-origin-a" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">with Apollo 17</a>. Since then, no crew has traveled beyond low-Earth orbit.
Musk, meanwhile, is eyeing<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/09/40770222/elon-musk-sets-2026-for-starships-first-uncrewed-mars-mission-targeting-successful-landing" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> taking humans to Earth&#8217;s neighboring planet Mars</a> aboard the Starship. Musk said that the first Starship launch to Mars is expected in September 2026 and that it will not have a crew on board.
