DR Systems to Debut New Unity™ CVIS at ACC

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

DR Systems, one of the most respected names in healthcare information systems, announced today that it is introducing the Unity™ Cardiovascular Information System (CVIS) this month at the upcoming annual meeting of the American College of Cardiology, ACC.10.

Unity CVIS is designed to provide a cost effective, comprehensive cardiology solution for institutions that need a new cardiology system whether replacing aging, limited systems or moving from tape to a digital solution.

Unity CVIS is based on open standards and technology. This enables cardiologists to integrate patient information and images from multiple departments and data sources into one common platform and database.

Live demonstrations of Unity CVIS can be seen at the DR Systems booth at the annual ACC scientific session, March 14 – 16 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga. The DR Systems booth is #855, in Hall B2.

“Our goal in creating Unity CVIS is to facilitate improved data access, patient care and safety while reducing operational expense by increasing efficiencies across the department and IT,” said John Conklin, Cardiology Program Director for DR Systems. “From scheduling to reporting, we’ve capitalized on our Unity Platform’s infrastructure to create a multimodality and longitudinal data solution that can host a wide array of CVIS services and capabilities.”

Unity CVIS is scalable to all levels of healthcare institutions, from cardiology physician practices to large healthcare enterprises.

Benefits of Unity CVIS include:

  • Ability to add a wide range of vendor devices or solutions. With its open architecture and integration capabilities, Unity CVIS gives healthcare facilities the ability to adapt to evolving healthcare and technology needs as they see fit.
  • Comprehensive, longitudinal views of patient data. Unity CVIS integrates images and patient information from disparate sources, meaning cardiologists can view all relevant imaging and non-imaging patient data on a single platform.
  • Information to improve productivity and overall management. Unity CVIS offers a Management Reports module to enable facilities to gather data, generate productivity and usage reports, and perform workflow and department analysis. Management Reports makes the tasks easier, leading to improved patient care, staff and facility management, and overall profitability for the healthcare enterprise.

The results are operational efficiencies that help lower costs and create more satisfying conditions for patients, cardiologists and department staff.

Among the capabilities of Unity CVIS are:

  • Multi-modality support for Cardiac and Vascular Ultrasound, X-Ray Angiography, Coronary CT & MR Angiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Electrocardiography (EKG)
  • Configurable and automated display protocols
  • Advanced imaging manipulation
  • Integrated clinical reporting solution
  • Point-of-care access to patients’ demographic, history, physical, admission, order, and results data.

“Our emphasis on consolidation and integration means improved user data-access, improved patient care and safety, and reduced operational expenses, said Conklin. It also means a system designed for the kind of workflow and dataflow that cardiologists want and expect.”
