Ambient Water Comments on California's Extended Water Restrictions for 2016

SPOKANE, WASHINGTON--(Marketwired - Nov. 19, 2015) - Ambient Water AWGI, a leading provider of atmospheric water generation systems for extracting water from humidity in the air, today commented on an order from California State Governor Jerry Brown that said his state's water restrictions will be extended until Halloween of 2016 if drought conditions still persist at the start of the new year. The new restrictions would extend the State of Emergency ordered by Brown on January 1, 2014 into a third year.

The stipulation on Brown's newest order is that the water restrictions will only go into effect if drought conditions persist in California at the start of the new year, which is likely as experts report that the State's water issues remain much the same, even with the impending El Nino expected to bring some rain. Brown's order also highlights the ongoing stresses that the drought have placed on the State's water supplies, agricultural industry, businesses, and residents, as well as the impact on its fish and wildlife, and wildfire prevention.

"The possibility of further extending California's water restrictions is not a surprise as the State saw very little respite in 2015 as the drought continued in to its 5th year. Lawmakers are searching for answers in an attempt to find any sort of relief next year for its residents and businesses that have been greatly impacted by the lack of water resources," said Keith White, CEO, Ambient Water. "While conservation is admirable, it is only a very small part of an overall solution. Residents and businesses will still be without the water that they need, and if drought conditions persist, the aquifers will still struggle to refill as water supplies dwindle. It's time to look past conservation for a solution."

That solution may come in the form of various water technologies, as evidenced by a recent report that said California leads the U.S. in venture capital investment into water companies, totaling $97 million in 2014. Water-related technology patents are also on the rise within the State, with 137 registered in 2014. Governor Brown's latest order earmarked $5 million from the Budget Act of 2015 for the State Water Resources Control Board to find permanent solutions for clean, consumable water for its residents.

Ambient Water already has a significant presence in the State, as it gave a demonstration of its atmospheric water generation technology and met with government officials at the State Capitol earlier in the Summer. Its technologies have applications for residential, commercial, and agricultural use, and would provide immediate relief through a sustainable, potable water source.

"It's a positive sign that Governor Brown and the State Water Resources Control Board are ready to actively pursue solutions that produce a reliable water source for residents and businesses. Water technology has been burgeoning within California, so there is plenty of opportunity for the State to innovate and try to solve this problem," continued White. "Having already had many positive conversations with State lawmakers, along with a well received demonstration of our technology at the Capitol, Ambient Water feels strongly that it can help to reduce drought impact immediately with our atmospheric water generation technology."

Ambient Water's patented atmospheric water generation technology literally makes water out of thin air, transforming humidity into an abundant source of clean water near the point of use. With multiple systems already commercially available or in development, the Company's technology produces clean and fresh water for a host of commercial industries, including oil and gas exploration and farming, while also providing fresh drinking water for homes, offices, and communities.
