fell about 1.3% after the company announced its plans to invest in Shanghai-based private equity fund. Nomura will invest in a fund managed by Jiu You Equity Investment Management LLP. Shares of Emcore Corp

surged about 25% after the company reported a wider fiscal fourth-quarter loss. Emcore posted a quarterly loss of $14.3 million, or $0.15 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $885,000, or a penny per share. Its revenue dropped 3.6% to $52.1 million. Emcore's gross margin declined to 19.3% from 23.6%. Chalice Gold Mines Ltd
