Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (NYSE:RCL) reported fourth-quarter FY22 sales growth of 165% year-on-year to $2.60 billion, slightly missing the consensus of $2.61 billion.
Passenger ticket revenues rose to $1.7 billion from $617.4 million last year.
Total cruise operating expenses were $1.78 billion versus $1.1 billion a year ago.
Operating income for the quarter was $15.4 million, with an operating margin of 0.6%.
Occupancy rate in Q4 was 94.9% versus 59.3% last year.
Royal Caribbean held $1.94 billion in cash and equivalents as of Dec. 31, 2022.
The Group's customer deposit balance was $4.2 billion as of Dec. 31, 2022.
Adjusted EPS loss of $(1.12) beat the analyst consensus of $(1.34).
Outlook: Royal Caribbean expects FY23 adjusted EPS of $3.00 - $3.60 versus the $3.31 estimate.
It sees Q1 adjusted loss per share of $(0.65) - $(0.85) against the consensus of $(0.77).
The company said it is very encouraged about the demand environment for 2023.
Price Action: RCL shares are trading higher by 2.00% at $70.47 on the last check Tuesday.
