ARM Posts Higher Q1 Profit

ARM Holdings plc (ADR) ARMH posted a 36 percent gain in its net profit for the first quarter. ARM's quarterly net profit climbed to 85.5 million pounds ($126.9 million), or 6.0 pence per share, versus a year-ago profit of GBP62.3 million, or 4.4 pence per share. Earnings per ADS climbed to 26.7 pence per share from 22.0 pence per share. Excluded items, normalized EPS jumped to 7.1 pence from 5.6 pence. Its revenue climbed 22 percent to GBP227.5 million, while revenue in US dollars surged 14 percent to $348.2 million from $305.2 million. Total technology licensing revenue gained 3 percent to $133.2 million in US dollars, while total technology royalty revenue rose 28 percent to $184.7 million. ARM shares climbed 6.29 percent to $54.58 in pre-market trading.
