Chesapeake Energy CHK swung to a profit in the third quarter.
Chesapeake posted a quarterly profit of $202 million, or $0.24 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $2.01 billion, or $3.19 per share. Excluding one-time items, it earned $0.43 per share.
Its revenue rose to $4.87 billion, from $2.97 billion. However, analysts were estimating earnings of $0.43 per share on revenue of $3.8 billion.
Chesapeake shares gained 3.02% to $28.99 in pre-market trading.
