Coal India reported a 35% rise in its FQ4 consolidated net profit.
Coal India's quarterly net profit surged to 54.13 billion rupees ($974 million), versus 40.13 billion rupees, in the year-ago period.
Its sales rose 2.5% to 199.04 billion rupees. However, analysts were projecting a net profit of 51.41 billion rupees on sales of 193.38 billion rupees.
Coal India's coal production declined to 143.30 million metric tons.
