US Steel X reported a narrower fourth-quarter loss. It also expects shipments to increase in the current quarter.
US Steel posted a quarterly loss of $50 million, or $0.35 per share, versus a year-earlier loss of $211 million, or $1.46 per share. Excluding items, it lost $0.41 per share.
Its revenue declined 6.9% to $4.49 billion. However, analysts were expecting a loss of $0.70 per share on revenue of $4.33 billion.
US Steel shares rose 0.22% to $23.25 in after-hours trading.
