UPDATE: Ball Posts Upbeat Q3 Profit

Ball BLL reported a drop in its third-quarter profit. Ball's quarterly profit fell to $115 million, or $0.73 per share, from $132 million, or $0.79 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, Ball earned $0.90 per share. Its revenue rose to $2.28 billion from $2.26 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.87 per share on sales of $2.27 billion. Ball shares closed at $41.93 yesterday.
